As of May 12, 2026: 18 or 28 channel limit?

As of May 12, 2026: is the Eclipsa Audio channel number limit on YouTube 18 or 28 ? I'm asking because for a year or so, we read here and there that it's 28, but nothing seems to officially validate that info. I'm under the impression that it's still 18 channels.

Do somebody know for sure?

According to my knowledge, YouTube supports the following IAMF profiles:

Profile	Max AE	Channels
Simple	1	16
Base	2	18
