Hello,
I am trying to install METABOLIC on the cluster, and keep getting this error, I tried the same from my laptop, getting the same error:

dbCAN2]$ wget http://bcb.unl.edu/dbCAN2/download/Databases/dbCAN-old@UGA/dbCAN-fam-HMMs.txt

Are there any other links, mirrors maybe?

Hi, I faced the same issue when trying to download dbCAN-fam-HMMs.txt.v10 from the old dbCAN2 server — the link is no longer resolving.

What worked for me was to use the archived copy from the web.archive.org website. For example:

wget https://web.archive.org/web/20250908061839/https://bcb.unl.edu/dbCAN2/download/Databases/dbCAN-old@UGA/dbCAN-fam-HMMs.txt.v10 -O dbCAN-fam-HMMs.txt

I compared this file against another copy I had downloaded earlier (before the original link went down), and they matched perfectly — same size and no differences when checked with diff.

Just a note: not all snapshots from the web.archive.org website. gave me the correct file. Some versions were much smaller and clearly incomplete. For reference, the correct file I have is about 96 MB in size and contains 659,128 lines. If your downloaded file matches that, you should be safe to use it with METABOLIC.

What worked for me is changing the link in run_setup.sh this is the link:
wget http://dbcan-hcc.unl.edu/download/Databases/dbCAN-old@UGA/dbCAN-fam-HMMs.txt

just replace line 20 with this.
