Initialize from Nerfstudio

I saw that the code provides gsplat_wrapper for the gsplat rasterizer from Nerfstudio. Is it possible to use that wrapper to perform the initial vanilla 3DGS optimization with Nerfstudio?

I want to use some of the features provided by Nerfstudio, such as alpha-transparent training, which I think would work great with this method.

@Anttwo do you have any tips for getting started? I would be happy to help with writing any missing code.

I did not. However, I did implement alpha-transparent training in a Frosting fork (see here for how I use it).

Also note that GS initializes Gaussians from a point cloud (see fetchPly). You could use the PLY vertices as points for initialization.

Thanks! In my case I have a fully trained gaussian asset, as ply. I want to convert into mesh with a gaussian frosting layer. I guess I need to adapt the code to load ply instead of pth?
