Description

Labels: documentation, outreach, phase:0-polish
Priority: High (Crucial for funding and citations)

Description

To ensure the core development team receives proper academic credit and to provide a stable, citable DOI for downstream users, we must formally publish the OpenImpala framework.

The Journal of Open Source Software (JOSS) is the ideal venue, as their peer review process focuses directly on software quality, documentation, and usability—aligning perfectly with our Phase 0 objectives.

Acceptance Criteria

  • Draft the paper.md and paper.bib files according to JOSS guidelines.
  • Ensure the repository meets all JOSS requirements (Code of Conduct, Contributing Guidelines, automated tests, clear installation instructions).
  • Add a CITATION.cff file to the root repository so GitHub automatically generates an "Export Citation" button for users.
