Attaching files other than images

I saw this in the README.md:
File Attachments Support for PDF, DOCX, XLSX, TXT, RTF, Pages, and Numbers.
PDF Preview In-browser preview for attached PDFs.I cannot figure out how to attach a file other than an image. Can you point me in the right direction?

• Insert Image button

• Select image file (choose a file button)

• In your files Manager (Linux) (MacOS Finder) choose to show All Files

• Select your file to insert
• Save
• Result

Yup, that is what I did. It does work on specific file types but it doesn't on anything else. I tried to attach a zip file and wouldn't give me a link after the upload.

The file does exist on the webserver after the upload:

Suggestion:

• fix broken link to extraneous file
• use a generic icon to represented 'other' files

Thanks for your patience and for testing this! You’re absolutely right—Flatnotes-Enhanced currently only supports attaching the file types mentioned in the README: PDF, DOCX, XLSX, TXT, RTF, Pages, and Numbers. This is a limitation of the underlying codebase, and unfortunately, I don’t have plans to expand support to additional file types (like ZIP) at this time.

I understand this might be inconvenient, and I appreciate your suggestions for improving the experience (e.g., using a generic icon for unsupported files). However, adding broader file support would require significant changes to the base code, which is beyond my current scope as a non-developer.

If this is a critical need for you, I’d recommend using a separate file storage solution (like a cloud drive) and linking to those files in your notes. Otherwise, I’ll keep your feedback in mind for future considerations!

For future reference, this is how I got it to work:

1. Followed your steps to upload the file, whaver filetype it is.
2. Insert the link to the document and it will add it as something like this:

![154134-blue-and-white-background.ai](attachments/154134-blue-and-white-background.ai)

Remove the ! before you save:

[154134-blue-and-white-background.ai](attachments/154134-blue-and-white-background.ai)

The link will work now as a regular link but uploaded to your attachments folder.
