Fix the git workflow instructions

What

We need to fix the current git instructions specified in the git README.md. The current workflow is incorrect and does not reflect the workflow @OrionOth and @liamgilligan discussed last weekend

Context

People need to use git correctly or we have problems. It would not be good.
