Yes, Cap does support importing videos recorded by other software for editing. This feature was added in PR #1504 and is available in the desktop app.

You can import external videos via the tray menu's "Import Video..." option. The import process:

• Transcodes the video to Cap's internal format (H264 + Opus)
• Creates a .cap project that can be edited in the studio editor
• Supports progress tracking during the conversion

The implementation is in apps/desktop/src-tauri/src/import.rs and uses FFmpeg to handle various input formats. Videos recorded on Android or iOS devices should work as long as FFmpeg can decode them (most common formats like MP4/H.264 are supported).

Note that Cap is currently a desktop application (macOS and Windows) - there isn't a mobile app at this time. The import feature lets you transfer videos from your phone to your computer and then edit them in Cap's desktop app.

There's also an open PR #1143 (draft) that may be working on additional file format support improvements.
