CellarBoss ("we", "our", or "us") operates the CellarBoss mobile application (the "App"). This Privacy Policy explains how we handle your information when you use our App.
CellarBoss is a self-hosted application. All data — including your account information, wine collection, and photos — is stored on a server that you (or your server administrator) control. We do not operate any central servers, cloud services, or data collection infrastructure. We have no access to your data at any time.
When you create an account on your self-hosted instance, your email address and profile information are stored on that server. This information never leaves your server.
The App allows you to catalogue and manage your wine collection. The data you enter — including wine names, producers, regions, vintages, tasting notes, and other cellar management details — is stored entirely on your self-hosted server.
The App requests access to your device's camera and photo library to allow you to photograph wine labels, bottles, and vintages. Photos are uploaded to your self-hosted server solely to associate them with your wine collection entries. We do not access your camera or photo library for any other purpose, and photos are never sent to us or any third party.
The App may request the following permissions:
- Camera — To capture photos of wines and labels
- Photo Library / Storage — To select existing photos from your device
- Internet — To communicate with your self-hosted server
The App does not collect or transmit any analytics, telemetry, or usage data to us. We do not use third-party analytics or advertising SDKs.
We do not receive, sell, trade, or rent any of your personal information. Because CellarBoss is self-hosted, your data remains entirely under the control of whoever operates your server instance.
All data is stored on your self-hosted server. Security of that data is the responsibility of the server operator. The App communicates with your server over HTTPS and uses secure credential storage on your device. However, no method of electronic storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee the security of your self-hosted environment.
Since all data resides on your self-hosted server, data retention is controlled by the server operator. You may delete your account and data at any time through the application or by managing the server directly.
The App is not intended for use by children under the age of 13 (or the applicable age of consent in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any material changes by posting the updated policy within the App or on our website. Your continued use of the App after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
