Arbitrary Deformation Gradient

Is the arbitrary deformation gradient correct? Is the randomization correct? How to seed that from an input, either random or set.

If the randomization is correct, I just need to figure out what the input values need to look like in either case, and how best to specify which of the two gradient generator functions to use

July 2024: This needs at least a second pass. The implementation is annoyingly different from every other scenario. Is it desired? What does it do? What can we do?
