New icon is worse?

Perhaps the old icon needed some refinement to make it more pronounced. New one looks like a completely different thing and that thing is not pretty when it appears in the notification view.

Which one was done by a reputable company and which one by a random uni student in their free time?
Just asking, you know. No hard feelings, maybe both were made by a person who is still learning, that's alright.
