Hi @mb72

You can directly click the add button on the wms services interface to add a WMS. The name can be anything, and the icon can be left blank. For the URL, just provide a basic URL, and the parameters like layers will be automatically refreshed and saved.

Thanks, but that doesn't work for the WMS I'm trying to use. CalTopo has the ability to accept templates that I'd like to have in QGIS with your plugin. The image below shows how CalTopo lets users submit a URL template for WMS. The WMS I'm using only worked with the template, not the auto-configure URL option.

You want to obtain the URLs of the basemaps in the plugin, right? This information is stored in the plugin's resources/xxx_basemaps.json files. You can directly open these files to view the corresponding URLs:

I don't need the basemap URLs.

I need the URL template option to access some WMSs that are more restrictive. They will only supply tiles when a complete web query is sent like the one I included in my first post. The tilesize and bbox parts of the query are in brackets because they are variables that Caltopo determines. Caltopo then displays the tiles that are returned. I'm hoping you can do the same for QGIS.

I apologize, but I'm still a bit confused about your request. I'm not sure if you want to get a map layer or just need specific tilts (which is a rather unusual request).

If it's the former, theoretically, for the URL: http://example.com/?service=WMS&request=GetMap&layers=2022&styles=&format=image%2Fjpeg&transparent=false&version=1.1.1&width={tilesize}&height={tilesize}&srs=EPSG%3A4326&bbox={left},{bottom},{right},{top}, you can set the URL to http://example.com/ according to #3 (comment), and the layer information will automatically refresh without the need to manually fill it in.

If you want to force the retrieval of specific tilts, this plugin doesn't support that feature now. I recommend using the Python Console in QGIS directly and running the following code:
