GhostESP: Revival is the actively maintained continuation of the original Ghost ESP project. We adopted and continued the name as GhostESP (also referred to as GhostESP: Revival) when we forked and revived the project.
The GhostESP logo, the "GhostESP: Revival" identity, and all original artwork in this repository are the intellectual property of the current project maintainers. The underlying firmware is licensed under GPL-3.0.
These guidelines exist to keep things fair and honest. We're a community-driven open-source project and we want people to build cool things with GhostESP, including selling hardware, but we need to protect the project's identity.
- Use the name and logo freely to describe compatibility (e.g., "runs GhostESP").
- Do NOT name your product "GhostESP". You must not use our name as your product name.
- Don't pretend to be us. Make it clear you're a third-party seller.
- Don't use our branding on something that isn't actually running GhostESP.
We love that people are selling boards, but you cannot name your product "GhostESP". This confuses users into thinking it is an official product.
Allowed (Description/Compatibility):
- "DevBoard running GhostESP"
- "WiFi Board for GhostESP"
- "GhostESP Compatible Stick"
- "Pre-flashed with GhostESP"
Not Allowed (Product Name):
- "GhostESP Board"
- "GhostESP Stick"
- "GhostESP V2"
- "The GhostESP"
If you sell hardware, you must make it clear that your product is compatible with our software, not produced by us.
We offer an Official Hardware Partner program for vendors who support the project. Partners receive:
- Written permission to use the "GhostESP" name and official logo on products.
- Listing on our official website.
- Priority support and updates.
If you are interested in becoming a partner, please contact us on Discord or email partners@ghostesp.net.
The GhostESP logo, the "GhostESP" handwriting wordmarks, and associated artwork are our copyrighted assets. You may use them only if you follow these rules:
- Non-Primary: The logo/wordmark cannot be the largest or most prominent element on your packaging or board branding. Your own brand/logo should be primary.
- No Modifications: Do not alter, stretch, or recolor the designs.
- No Confusion: Use of the assets must not imply that your product is the "official" GhostESP hardware.
Cover GhostESP however you like. Tutorials, reviews, teardowns, comparisons, no worries. See the press kit for high-res assets. Credit "GhostESP: Revival" and link to ghostesp.net.
Forks are encouraged under the GPL-3.0 license. However, if you fork the project, you may not use the GhostESP name or Logo for your fork's branding if it diverges significantly. You should choose a new name and state "Based on GhostESP".
We reserve the right to take action (including copyright takedowns) against:
- Impersonation: Pretending to be an official GhostESP store or maintainer.
- Passing Off: Using "GhostESP" as a product name in a way that misleads consumers.
- GPL Violations: Selling the firmware without providing source code.
- Copyright Infringement: Using our logo or artwork on unauthorized merchandise or unrelated products.
- Code: Licensed under GPL-3.0.
- Artwork & Logo: Copyright © 2024-2026 GhostESP Maintainers. All Rights Reserved.
- Brand Name: The "GhostESP" name represents the identity of the GhostESP: Revival project.
- Trademark: GhostESP is a trademark of the GhostESP: Revival project maintainers.
