Just tossing out some diamond related suggestions that popped in my mind while reading this.

Buildings:

• Lumber-mill - specialized assembler that can only make recipes that include raw or cut wood in the ingredients, super fast craft speed though. Costs 1x Assembler Mk1, 4x iron gears, 2x diamond, 4x yellow belt.
• Megawatt laser - 3x3 giant laser turret, costs 5x laser turrets, 2x diamond plate, 1x spun diamond fiber, 10x concrete wall. Take a base laser, and quadruple the damage and range. Halve the firing rate. Multiply passive and active power drains by 5. Half again as many hit points as the base laser turret.

Intermediate Products:

• Spun diamond fiber - 2x crafted from 4x copper wire and 1 diamond.
• Diamond Plate - 2x Crafted from 1x diamond, 12x spun diamond fiber, 1x steel plate.
• FaL Processing Units (Fast as Light) - Alternate recipe for processing units that need less red/green circuits in exchange for needing diamonds. Themed as using light based processors.

Gear:

• Diamond Armor: Mid step between modular armor and power armor. Slightly better defense values than modular armor, grid is one column wider than modular armor. Crafted from 1x modular armor, 12x spun diamond fiber.
• Diamond Plated Power Armor (Mk1/Mk2) - Crafted from 1x of the the base power armor, 12x diamond plates. Also has an upgrade path from the Mk1 to the Mk2. Mk1 defense value is a midpoint between the regular Mk1 power armor and Mk2 power armor, Mk2 applies the same step in defense value improvement. No increase in grid size.
• Diamond Laser PDs - like the Diamond Laser Turret, it's a more energy efficient PD with otherwise the same stats.
