i have a question how do you deal with another login window that appears after sucessfull login?

it logs in sucessfully

then on top of this sucessful login window shows up this:

I suspect that you are using a free trial account. Gateway doesn't work quite the same way with these as it does with funded accounts, and it's likely that this is the cause of your problems. In particular, it appears from previous reports that AutoRestart doesn't work with trial accounts., which is what's whowing up in your second logfile,

The purpose of the free trial account is to give you a warm feeling (or not!) that IBKR plus Gateway/TWS might be a good match for your trading needs. You can't expect all the bells and whistles with one of them. On the other hand, the paper trading account that you get for free with a funded account is much more realistic.

If you are using a free trial account, and you want to continue using it, you'll just have to accept that you need to manually deal with the 'Login Messages' dialog.

If you're not using a free trial account, please let me know so I can probe further.

This is not trial accounts. This is real IBKR accounts with paper trading enabled, just not funded yet. I'm testing on paper before going live with real money.

I didn't know it was possible to open a real live account without fundng it. Getting paper trading as well seems curious. Maybe in these circumstances, it effectively beomes a trial account with the limitations associated with that.

I notice that you're using an old version of Gateway (10.37.1c). The current 10.37 version is 10.37.1o. Please upgrade to that version and see if that helps.

If it doesn't, I'm not quite sure what you're expecting. What happens if you accept (or reject) cookies? Does the same thing happen again next time you start IBC?

Needless to say, I don't see this happening at all, so it's not obvious what I can do about it.

Upgraded to 10.37.1o and still the same (but interestingly only one instance of gateway does it for me). Regarding the Login Messages dialog - when I accept it, it comes back on next restart. I have a PowerShell script that auto-closes it, so it's not a blocker for me, but ideally IBC should handle it automatically.

This Login Messages dialog has reared its ugly head a small handful of times over about the past year. I tried to investigate it, but I couldn't find a way to reliably make it appear, and indeed I haven't seen it at all for many months. I assumed that it's something IBKR are toying with, but I've no real idea what its intended purpose is. In your case, it appears to be trying to login to the Client Portal, perhaps to make it easy for you to fund your account or change your account settings? Other cases have been something different.

Given my total lack of understanding what it's for, I absolutely am not going to make any modifications to IBC to 'handle' it. If it's something that only applies to unfunded or trial accounts, I really have no interest in spending time on that.

If it turns out to be something that's causing problems for users with 'real' accounts, that would be a different matter, but no-one else seems to be experiencing this at the moment. So I'll just stand by for the present, and you can continue using your script to clobber it.

I'm seeing this on a funded live account using paper trading mode (Gateway 10.37.1, IBC 3.23.0, Ubuntu 24.04).

After IBC successfully logs in and completes configuration tasks, the "Login Messages" dialog appears as a blank/empty window. It's modal and blocks the API socket from accepting connections — port 4002 is listening but all client connections get "Peer closed connection."

IBC logs show:

IBC: Login has completed
IBC: Click button: I understand and accept
IBC: TWS API socket port is already set to 4002
IBC: Read-Only API checkbox is already set to: false
IBC: Configuration tasks completed
IBC: Click button: OK
IBC: detected dialog entitled: Login Messages; event=Opened

IBC detects the dialog but doesn't dismiss it. The dialog has no visible buttons or content — just a dark empty window with "Login Messages" in the title bar.

Workaround: I wrote a small watchdog script that runs alongside IBC and auto-closes the dialog via xdotool:

I wish I knew what IBKR are playing at with this silly 'feature' that appears occasionally and seems to accomplish nothing.

I have no easy way of determining within IBC whether that dialog contains anything actionable. My previous investigations showed that it's actually a JavaFX structure, and I don't currently have any code for parsing out the content.

But if it's acting modally and preventing API connections (something that the paper trade warning dialog also does), I think I'll have to add a new setting in config.ini that tells IBC to just discard the dialog whenever it's encountered. But at this stage I can't guarantee that would work, because TWS may well just present it again if it's not closed using some button or other.

And since i can't cause the dialog to be displayed, it's all a bit tricky.

Having said that, I have a suspicion that it's displayed when you logon while there are unread messages in the Message Centre in the Client Portal, so I might be able to create that situation.

Are you experiencing this regularly, or was it just the once?

Well, earlier this morning I was notified via email by IBKR of a new message in my Message Centre. So I shut down my current live and paper TWS instances, and restarted them. They both logged in fine with no 'Login Messages' dialog appearing.

So I'm no nearer having any idea of what this is all about.

I'm going to have to suggest that anyone experiencing this should raise a ticket with IBKR, especially if it happens repeatedly. And if you can make it happen, I suggest you run TWS/Gateway manually (ie without IBC) so you can provide evidence to IBKR that is not 'tainted' with IBC aspects.

I will update IBC as indicated above when I can find some time to do it.
