The "skills section" is an old feature of my websites that I would like to reincarnate. In previous versions of my website it consisted of a set of icons that could be clicked to elaborate on the particular skill that the icon represented. This isn't the same model that I would like to bring back, but some of the design principles are important to me.
These are:
- The number of skills is limited to a core set that is easy to identify for those already familiar with the skill area.
- The skills can be explored by someone not immediately familiar with them without a lot of information immediately visible.
- When clicked, there is sufficient information for a reader to:
- learn what the skill is,
- how proficient I am at that skill,
- and where I gained the experience.
- The interface is "fun" to explore, and more interactive than a typical static page.
