Skills section

The "skills section" is an old feature of my websites that I would like to reincarnate. In previous versions of my website it consisted of a set of icons that could be clicked to elaborate on the particular skill that the icon represented. This isn't the same model that I would like to bring back, but some of the design principles are important to me.

These are:

1. The number of skills is limited to a core set that is easy to identify for those already familiar with the skill area.
2. The skills can be explored by someone not immediately familiar with them without a lot of information immediately visible.
3. When clicked, there is sufficient information for a reader to:
   1. learn what the skill is,
   2. how proficient I am at that skill,
   3. and where I gained the experience.
4. The interface is "fun" to explore, and more interactive than a typical static page.
