Unhandled exception "Invalid characters in path"

When I try to create a shortcut of any type with "?" in its name I get this error.

It's probably because your program tries to create a file with a name exactly equal to what is in the "Name" field without validating the filename.

Upon quick inspection of your code I've found that the call to WshShell is responsible for creating the shortcut and upon inspecting that and also shortcut files, I think that this is a limitation within Windows itself as the name in the Start Menu is just the file name of the shortcut - there is no extra field where you can put display name.

I tried working around it by using Unicode characters similar to "?" like "？", "﹖", "︖" but with no success. If I use any of them in the name I get this error:
