Goal

Prove the actual npm artifacts and native addon optional dependency path work, not just the source checkout tests.

Implementation steps

1. Inventory root package files and platform addon package layout.
2. Add/verify npm pack dry-run and packed install smoke that exercises the current platform addon.
3. Ensure missing/unsupported addon failure is explicit and not a silent success.
4. Capture exact artifact evidence expected in PR body.

Parallelization note

Independent from K2 if it stays in packaging/test files.

Can run after or alongside K1; avoid changing schema contract.

Validation / evidence required

• npm run pack:check
• npm run smoke
• native addon packed install smoke where workflow supports it

Completion criteria

• Required validation evidence is pasted into the PR body or final issue comment.
• No v1 version bump/tag/publish is performed.
• If any required evidence is unavailable, the issue remains open with the gap classified as Medium/High rather than being marked complete.
