This is probably due to an encoding issue. Check FontRenderer.class in the game.gui.elements package. At the top there is a static string "chars". If weird characters show up in there, that is the issue. I'm using UTF-8 since I'm working on Linux. This should fix it: http://www.eclipse.org/forums/index.php/t/29511/
