You probably have background blur enabled in the universal layout and cloth config probably also blurs its screens in a way that FancyMenu can’t control, so they try to both blur the background, which Minecraft doesn’t like, that’s why it crashes.

Easiest workaround would be to add the Cloth config screens to the universal layout's blacklist (right-click editor background while editing the universal layout).

With background blur disabled it won't crash anymore, but it doesn't change the background.

If there is no blur visible at all in that screen, then that's a bug on Cloth Config's side. They apply blur without even showing blur. This can be considered a bug and should be fixed on their side.

I'm not talking about the blur, I turned it off to stop the crash. It now doesn't change the background image (Always using Minecraft version) to that screen. Is that also a cloth config issue?
