Depreciate function oriented mode?

Should we stop supporting the function oriented functionaliity for the theory modules? It was pointed out by Joe Zunts on IR review of the V2.0 paper, that supporting both it and the object oriented is creating a lot of overhead and demanding a lot of our time

Agreed it is a lot of overhead. It is only for the theory modules, though? Same question applies to the data operations, using a galaxy cluster object or not.

Just to understand, are we talking simply of not supporting it anymore (i.e. what is there is there, but no new functionalities will be developed using the functional interface and some of the existing ones might break down with time), or entirely removing the "functional interface" code? I'm thinking there might be v1.x users we do not know about who are relying on the functional interface, so removing it entirely may cause issues for them (if they exist).
