Issues on Linux mint 22 xfce jdk 25

Error when recording the ambiant noise

The first visible issue appears when recording the ambiant noise : everything but the header and footer bar of the app starts to flicker between red and green, for about 15-20 sec. See screenshot below. At this point I have no errors in log.

Error when recording with R (on key release)

Then the chapters and the rest of the UI appears again and everything seems fine. Then I select a chapter and press R, but the same flickr starts again, still no errors in the log. But when I release the R, errors appear in the log, and this time the UI is garbled : the red or green color remains, and moving the mouse over UI items reveals them back. Error when loading a saved book

At this point I saved and closed, started the app, clicked on Open, selected my book, but nothing is loaded.

Just tried the exe on Windows 10, and got about all the same issues.

This is all pointing to one error that seems to cause lots of others:

the return value of "uk.co.majenko.audiobookrecorder.Book.getExportProfile()" is null

It's been a while since I did any work on this - I'll have a dig into the code.

Ok, this looks like a failing in the export profiles system. That's one of the last features I implemented. I've made a small tweak that might cure it.

Thank you for trying to fix it ! I've tried on my Windows 10 PC, but for some reason it triggers a BitDefender generic false-positive:
"Advanced Threat Control blocked a process detected as malicious. Path to the process : E:\AudiobookRecorder-win.exe. Name of the threat : ATC.SuspiciousBehavior.B4947B654AA3FE92."

I'll have to try later at home on my Linux machine.

Windows defender is getting worse and worse every day with false positives. It's not the first time I've had something flagged as "suspicious". It's since they started using AI to identify stuff - it just doesn't work. VirusTotal.com can't find anything wrong with it at all. CAPA sandbox basically complains that it's a Java program, CAPE sandbox notices the query to github to check if there's an updated version available, other than that there's nothing. Good on you Microsoft. Another nail in your coffin.
