Would it be possible to reverse the way the zone shading work? I'd like if the alignment zones were darker and the middle of the zones were lighter, because it's the edges that are the key part, to make sure we're aligning nodes on the overshoot or not. The middle of the zones are less important.
Currently this is what I see, and with the overshoots so faint it's hard to tell if the glyphs are really hitting the overshoot:

I'd propose reversing the transparency to emphasise the overshoots:
