Installable Project?

Hello, thank you for this project!

It would be really nice to be able to install this tool just like other installable command line tools using pip.

Would you be open to do this? Would you be open to this kind of contribution?

I would be open to a contribution to do this. But I need it to be easy to push changes to the repo and not difficult to create a release. Today both are very easy to do.

Personally, I'm only have experience with pip as a consumer.

Thanks. I actually went through the process of using the PyPi test site to try out the packaging.

My guess is one PyPi release every major release is reasonable, not every minor update. It probably requires me to copy files into another directory and editing the metadata before using builds and twine`.

Yes, and this is what I'm doing in a PR!

I'll setup the declarative configuration using setuptools so you don't have to install and learn a new tool.

I'll also configure "console scripts" and probably refactor some code so that most of top-level code in the md2pptx file in within a function

I suggest we continue the discussion once the PR is available.

Two ways, but I see I only documented one:

1. Clone md2pptx into a new directory

2. Install the cloned directory:

   pip install ./path/to/the/md2pptx/directory

The other way would be something along the lines of cloning then running file at the root. I'll add that to the PR.

Or just plain take the zip file from a release?

Unzipping then running just like after a git clone would work.

What should also work is the 2 following cases:

1. Running the module:

   After pip install the module, it is callable with the -m option:

   python -m md2pptx

2. Running the zipped folder

   If you zip the src/md2pptx folder and already have all the dependencies, you should be able to run it directly like so:

   python md2pptx.zip

I'll leave a todo in the PR to make sure it works and is documented in the readme.

Recently, I published a Markdown exporter plugin md_exporter for exporting markdown to binary files on Dify marketplace, gaining ~3000 downloads with in less than two weeks. （ https://marketplace.dify.ai/plugins/bowenliang123/md_exporter ）

I have some suggestions so that I could bring PPTX exporting in my Dify plugin (via langgenius/dify-plugins#155):

1. make md2pptx installable from pip , so that we don't have to copy and shipping all the source code of md2pptx
2. consider not to force using md2pptx as a command line CLI, in order to get easier for API usage from source code
