Feature request: copy text to clipboard

Hi,
I’m using SaveLocally for some time now, and it’s the one thing missing to the sharing feature of Android. Very good thing, just save a file, or save shared text as a file.

Except if it’s just text I just want to have … in my hands, it’s still an unnecessary step to save it as a file, then open this file in an editor and copy the text. Is there a possibility to add an option to either save the text as file or to copy it directly to the clipboard? This would be so great and make my life easier.

Sorry for the delay in replying, I never really understood this issue.

I think I have an idea that can help.

Android allows apps to register custom actions when text is selected, like how for example you could have Google Translate register a "Translate" action for your selected text.

I can potentially look into how to do that and implement one that allows you to select text, send it to Save Locally and it should be able to use the existing code to save text.

Is that what you want (assuming it's somehting that can be implemented ofc)?

Hm, maybe. But I don’t see why you would need another way using the translate action instead of the "sharing" action that already works?

In general the problem is: I have any app that does not let me mark and copy the text that is visible on the screen. But I can share the element containing the text. Using the share action, I can export my text to any app supporting to be used for that. Here comes "Save locally" into play. It is listed as an app where I can share the element to.

My request is simple:
Save Locally offers storing the element (containing text) in a file. But I don’t need the text to be saved in a file. I just need it copied to the system’s clipboard.

So, either "Save locally" could support an additional option for the user ("save as file" or "copy to clipboard"), or maybe it could be an additional app, that only does the latter? Something like "Share to clipboard". I think that would even be easier, as it works the same way, but it does not save into a file, only copies to the clipboard.

I see what you want now.
The app you are using seems to likely disable some text options (such as copy) but still enable sharing.

What you are asking for is a bit out of the scope for this app, but I will think a bit over what I can do.

You’re right. Some applications offer me a direct "copy" button in the UI overlay. Other apps seems to disable it, so I can only select an application to share to.
