mouse mode not working

i connect the controller as a single joycon i tried moving it left and right but my mouse wasnt moving do you need steam or something?

No, you don't need steam, it should work out of the box.
But to avoid problems of fingers triggering the mouse sensor during gameplay, I tweaked it to only activate mouse mode when detecting a surface which is flat and not too rough. so it might not work on some surfaces. It also does not works on surfaces a optical mouse usually does not work (glass, surfaces with are too reflective of too smooth...)

Did you try on different surfaces? (table, mousepad...)
