Support for cmdliner >= 2.0 ?

Hi. The current version of alt-ergo requires cmdliner < 2.0. Is there any plan to support cmdliner >= 2.0 soon?

Hi! We currently require cmdliner < 2.0 because the introduction of auto-complete in cmdliner 2.0 broke the use of unambiguous prefixes as arguments (see dbuenzli/cmdliner#200).

Since this is a user-facing change (prefix option names no longer work), we'd like to avoid it causing confusion for users outside the OCaml ecosystem; someone installing alt-ergo 2.6.2 after the release of cmdliner 2.0 should have the same behavior as their colleague that installed alt-ergo 2.6.2 before the release of cmdliner 2.0.

We'll drop the cmdliner constraint in the next release.

There is no fixed date, but likely a couple months away. In the meantime, if you just need to have alt-ergo installed in an opam switch where you also want to use cmdliner 2.0, you can drop the constraint by doing opam pin alt-ergo.2.6.2 and removing the constraint on cmdliner manually; the code should be compatible AFAIK.
