[Bug] Can't install 1.7.4-rc.251215 on PikaOS (debian)

I try to install the latest 1.7.4-rc.251215 version on my Linux PikaOS (based on Debian Trixie), but I have this error :

Note, selecting 'openboard' instead of './openboard_debian_12_1.7.4-rc.251215_amd64.deb'
Solving dependencies... Error!
Some packages could not be installed. This may mean that you have
requested an impossible situation or if you are using the unstable
distribution that some required packages have not yet been created
or been moved out of Incoming.
The following information may help to resolve the situation:

Unsatisfied dependencies:
 openboard : Depends: libavformat59 (>= 7:5.1.7) but it is not installable
             Depends: libavcodec59 (>= 7:5.1) but it is not installable or
                      libavcodec-extra59 (>= 7:5.1) but it is not installable
             Depends: libswscale6 (>= 7:5.1.7) but it is not installable
             Depends: libavutil57 (>= 7:5.1.7) but it is not installable

I think here is an issue with dependencies.

Debian Trixie is Debian 13, while the package built for the release is based on Debian 12. This most probably causes this. I will build community supported, unofficial packages for all maintained Debian versions as soon as 1.7.4 is finally released. 17.01.2026 16:49:41 SeeDborg ***@***.***>:

Dumb question but why did you build for debian 12 and not 13 ?
Do you know approximatively when 1.7.4 will be released ?

Hi,

1.7.4 is in the testing phase, and could be released within one month or two. It takes time only because we no longer have testers at this time. I start them myself this week.

For the next school year, we'll keep on Debian 12. It will let us some time to get rid of the issues on Wayland. We plan to go to Debian 13 in our schools for August 2027, so OpenBoard must be Debian13/Wayland ready then

OK I understand.
With the Flathub option it should work on Debian 13.
