Now that we have the tools in place to automatically alert dataset owners that their datasets are at risk of deletion, I think it could be worth expanding this to include other administrative actions, such as purged data.
Admin user story: Un-defaced data are detected in a dataset that has not affirmed consent to publish undefaced data. An administrator purges the files and then marks the dataset as "Needs attention" with the message "Facial features were found in all T2w images. These images were purged, and defaced images need to be uploaded."
Uploader user story: Contributor with editor access receives an email stating "Facial features were found in all T2w images. These images were purged, and defaced images need to be uploaded." The user has moved institutions and is no longer receiving emails at that address. Later, after logging into OpenNeuro with an updated email address, the user receives an email to their new address on the first of the month. Uploading the data and creating a new version, the "needs attention" flag is removed. The "Needs attention" notice also appears in the notifications of the user, and can be turned off.
Alternatives
The current alternative is a manually maintained spreadsheet, with no clear way to update email addresses.
Do you have any interest in helping implement the feature?
