Soft and Hard Segment Selection

Thanks for publishing your source codes. 
Could you please let me know the default case of segment selection method in the source code?
Does the published source code support both soft and hard segment selection methods? I wanted to know if there is any flag by which the segment selection method can be specified in the code.
