[SOLVED] Antenna movement triggers unintended UI inputs

Describe the problem

Moving the telescopic antenna (changing the angle only, not screwing/unscrewing it) triggers UI inputs.

On my device, when I move the antenna, the interface always navigates to the top-left corner of the screen and then performs a single (maybe multiple) “enter” action(s).

I am not sure whether this is an intended safety feature. If it is expected behavior, then everything is fine. I just want to clarify whether this is normal.

After further investigation, the issue appears to be mechanical rather than electrical or firmware-related.

When adjusting or moving the external antenna, the SMA connector also shifts. Inside the PortaRF enclosure, the SMA connector is attached to a relatively large internal metal block (it is part of the connector). Because the device housing is plastic and lacks structural rigidity, this internal block is not sufficiently secured.

As a result:

1. Movement of the antenna transfers mechanical force to the SMA connector

2. The internal connector block shifts within the plastic enclosure

3. This causes the PCB to flex

4. PCB flexing triggers unintended navigation inputs/events

Root Cause:
Insufficient mechanical stabilization of the SMA connector assembly within a flexible plastic enclosure.

Mitigation:
There is no simple fix at the software level. A proper solution would require:

• A rigid (e.g., metal) enclosure

• Proper mechanical fixation of the SMA connector to prevent movement

• Decoupling mechanical antenna forces from the PCB

Workaround:
When adjusting the antenna, hold the base of the connector firmly with your other hand to prevent force transfer to the PCB.
