New RakuAST Panel on raku.org

I recently realised that there is little current information on the RakuAST project on https://raku.org. E.g. on /community page.

This project is (aiui) the flagship technical collaboration on Raku(do) core and has the prospect to lead to a bunch of new language capabilities. I would like to highlight this to show (i) Raku community is working hard on interesting new stuff and (ii) potential recruits can see there is a challenging and interesting project to get involved with.

A little research has turned up:

• jnthns TRC 2021 deck

Please comment if you like (or dislike) this idea.

In particular I would really like to publish a new take on the milestones (eg for 6.e) and long term goals of this project (macros, slangs, performance). I am probably the least qualified person to write that, but I will happily try to edit together all your thoughts on this - so please share them here…

I suggest reproducing (or distilling if it's too much) the Proposed feature summary page/table from jnthn's deck that you linked, ideally adding the following links to words in that table:

• The phasers BEGIN and CHECK get linked to the doc for those phasers.

• The language version E gets linked to a suitable target (presumably a page about Eid or 6.e or whatever already exists). Same for F if a suitable target exists.

Then a couple bullet points get added below the table:

• A glimpse into the future links to the page in jnthn's deck that immediately follows the Proposed feature summary table/page.

• Building the future -- the Rakudo compiler's RakuAST directory links to the ast directory. I suggest linking to the directory so that a person is immediately immersed in the context of GitHub, the Rakudo compiler, the source files for RakuAST, commits to it, and a concluding README if they scroll.
