Confusion over survival and development - number of stages possible per individual per year

Assuming reproduction is set to happen once per year, and survival and development are set to happen in between reproductive events, i.e. also once per year:

• Can an individual move through multiple life stages within one year, i.e. from stage 0 to stage 1 to stage 2 in one reproductive season (all between the same reproductive events), or can individuals only develop one stage per year? Meaning when an individual develops, it can only ever move to one further life stage in one development 'event'.
