PFM on NixOS

I have the linux release downloaded, and have attempted to run with steam-run.
the command returns:

No similar matches found!
terminate called without an active exception

preceded in majority by what seems to overlap in the logs: log.txt
The log itself also seems to end abruptly.
I'm really not sure where to go from here, but in case it is related I am running Hyprland (attempted on XWayland as well) NixOS 2.24.12 (unstable)

I believe it works on wine, but it's extremely buggy...

I've only tested it with Ubuntu-based operating systems and I have no experience with NixOS, but I'll see what I can do.
First of, can you try it with the latest nightly release instead of the stable version?

If PFM doesn't launch with that version either, can you please try launching the "pragma" and "pragma_server" executables and see if they crash as well?

I downloaded the nightly build and ran pfm from there... the files didn't initially have exec permissions so i gave it to pragma pragma_server and pfm

Don't worry about the icons im missing a ton of them lol
The window was unresizable, but i figured the top button meant yes?
after pressing the top button:

That answers my doubts actually. I have the same bug. For Vulkan implementation we use Anvil, which does not support Wayland.

This is high in my priority list.

Solutions to this are two:

1. Implement Wayland support to Anvil

2. Switch to different wrapper (auto_vk for example)

Both of which are time consuming.

Later today, I'll check if OpenGL has the same bug.

That’s unfortunate… Would it be possible for me to casually switch backends and try it myself? I.e. OpenGL?

I've added experimental Wayland support with the latest update:

Could you give that a shot (without the -graphics_api launch option)? I don't have a system to test it with, so I'm not sure if it actually works. If it still crashes, please upload the new crashdump 😊.

I actually can't get a dump this time... I thought it was the kernel update i did recently, but even when I reverted it gave the same error:
[error] Failed to wait for GPU crash dump completion: Crash dump collection failed: NotStarted

I was, however, able to get the log:

Alright, I installed Ubuntu 24 and managed to get it working with Wayland there. With any luck that will also do the trick for NixOS. Could you give it another shot with the latest nightly release? ( https://github.com/Silverlan/pragma/releases/tag/nightly )

(Keep in mind that the nightly release is not stable though, so even if it does run, there will likely be a few issues.)

crashes on selecting the interface tutorial but i imagine thats something else maybe my fault i havent messed around lol

The crash in the interface tutorial should now also be fixed with the latest nightly release!
