Historical Context
According to statistics from the official Facebook page, about 2.5% of users of SM AMX are from the US. One of the reasons I attribute this is because people mistook this build as being exclusive to PIU, which actually resulted in me abandoning players from other games than PIU and fulfilling the prophecy.
Some of the bugfixes that I have made (such as support the June 2010 SDK from DirectX, or fix the support for UTF-16 folders in Windows) can be maintained in a separate branch with too little effort on my end, to help people looking to play vanilla StepMania 3.9.
What needs to be done?
Review each one of the ~ 600 commits, and cherry pick those who fix actual bugs to a new branch created from the vanilla 3.9 release.
Stretch goals
Analyze which option will result in less confusion to the community between maintaining a branch or creating a new repo. Also evaluate the possibility to upstream these fixes, I don't expect the SM team to still be in a f*ck 3.9 mood.
