EdsmScanner.exe stalls on "Getting system details..."

EdsmScanner.exe always stalls at some point when "Getting system details." Sometimes, it will start scanning the list of systems. Other times, it never even begins scanning. I think this may have something to do with the fact that I never had to input my API key anywhere. How does the executable know which API key to use?

The EdsmScanner.exe does not require API key. It uses publicly exposed EDSM endpoints.

For obtaining system details it uses https://www.edsm.net/api-system-v1/bodies from https://www.edsm.net/en/api-system-v1

The problem you observe is that this endpoint is throttled, which means you can query roughly 700 system information per minute. If you reach this limit, the EdsmScanner.exe will "stall" waiting until EDSM allows it to query more system details.
It is something I cannot improve as EDSM does not expose any endpoints allowing a better experience.

If you prefer EdsmScanner to stop immediately when it hits the limits of EDSM calls (instead of stalling), please let me know - I can implement such a feature.

Otherwise, I did not find any way to overcome the throttling issue.
