Using Cachyos KDE + 8bitdo Ultimate 2C Wired Controller does not work with Repentagon (Without Massive Headaches?)

Something in repentegon breaks the controller API ... some examples will be shown.

The Cachyos KDE part may not be relevant - I can replicate this (the "unknown device" thing) with my 8BitDo Ultimate 2 Wireless

However - the controller appears to work fine despite the name not being shown properly

Do you experience any other actual issues with your controller, or is it just that it shows as "unknown device"?

The "XInput Controller" is the only one that actually works for binding and use in-game, idk what to say about that

I assume you did also try forcing steaminput to disable and that didnt work either, right?

I also tried un-double bound keys. This is the only game this has been any issue. Its also the only game that actually does not let you have a blank key ... so I use right stick as my NOTHING key.

After some fiddling I am able to replicate the issue on my own 8BitDo controller, I can even get the controls fucked up while running vanilla.

Please try this: Boot up REPENTOGON, go into the controls menu, and using your KEYBOARD, go through EACH of the listed controllers and hit the "Reset to Defaults" button at the bottom. For me, this fixes the controls, at least making everything work OK by default.

However, this will fuck up your controls for vanilla. Doing the "Reset to Defaults" sweep in vanilla will fuck up the controls in repentogon, and vice versa.

The fact it shows as multiple controllers is purely an 8BitDo quirk, but the controls being messed up appears to be due to an issue with how the bindings for third-party controllers are handled between the version of isaac that repentogon runs on and the version vanilla uses (we are a few patches behind, the latest versions added a binding for IID, but we still share the same config file).

We will look into possible solutions to prevent this. For now, do the "Reset to Defaults" sweep over all the controllers in REPENTOGON and then be mindful if you try to play vanilla. Hopefully that works for you.
