torch-opencv and opencv-3.3.0

torch-opencv seems to require opencv-3.1.0 and is not (yet) compatible with opencv-3.3.0. Is this true?

Hi, correct, this project wraps 3.1.0 exclusively :(

any plan to migrate to opencv-3.3.0? I just upgraded my mac to macOS Sierra (10.12) and found out that opencv-3.1.0 is not compatible with macOS Sierra. So I can not use torch-opencv :(

Are you sure they're incompatible? I've just googled and saw people having success, for example here: https://stackoverflow.com/questions/39775041/installing-opencv-3-1-0-on-macos-sierra-to-use-with-python

Actually, it should be quite easy to do. There are no plans, but I think upgrading is a good idea. I'll try to do this after I solve GPU bugs.

I built the torch-opencv with Opencv 3.2. I had to tweak the CMakeLists.txt as shown below. The make install puts the library in /usr/local/lua. I moved to a folder in LUA_CPATH. I tested one demo trackbar.

Current brew only has opencv 3.3. I could get thist to start to install by changing 3.1 -> 3.3 in CMakeLists.txt.

But compiling gives following errors:

I don't want to install multiple versions of opencl.

It is only 2 commands, it should be easy fix. I disabled them in source and everything (what I need) works.

managed to install torch-opencv on sierra 10.12.6 by :

1. install miniconda (conda) https://github.com/conda/conda https://conda.io/miniconda.html ;

2. install opencv 3.1.0 by miniconda :
   path/to/miniconda create -n opencv python=3
   source activate opencv
   path/to/miniconda install -c conda-forge opencv==3.1.0

3.install torch_opencv :
OpenCV_DIR=/path/to/miniconda3/pkgs/opencv-3.1.0-versionthing luarocks install cv

hope torch-opencv switch to opencv 3.3.0 soon : )
