FAQ and gotchas

I checked a habit off. Why isn't it "completed" in Life? Round checkbox = "done today", and today is logged (streak, heatmap). A habit never completes by checkbox — it repeats; that's its job. To end it for good, open it and Retire habit. One-time things (square checkbox) do complete everywhere at once. See The completion rule.

I set something to "Today" — does it also need a repeat? No. Today alone puts it on the list until you complete it. A repeat alone puts it there on schedule. They're mutually exclusive on purpose — each gives the checkbox a different meaning, so choosing one clears the other.

Something I expected isn't in this week's list. Week/month/quarter/year lists are real calendar instances. A goal tagged "this week" last week sits in last week's list — step the arrows back and you'll find it, then → Today or re-schedule it into the current week. Old items from before this existed appear in the current period.

Yesterday's unfinished task is showing today. Bug? Feature: tasks carry forward until done ("carried from Mon"), only on the real today. Finish it today and both days stay honest: planned Monday, done Wednesday.

Where did my completed things go? Nowhere — completed items stay in their lists, struck through. Lists with a lot done offer Hide completed under Sort.

I moved something and the area changed by itself. Picking a parent adopts the parent's life area — living inside something means living where it lives. Override with the area chips in the same Move sheet before pressing Move; nothing applies until then.

What's the difference between a note and a "someday" goal? A note is thinking (no checkbox, no guilt). Someday is a shelved intention — still a goal, just not now. If it will eventually be done, make it a goal; if it's words you want to keep, it's a note.

My phone edit isn't on my laptop. Both signed in? Then tap the 🔄 sync button (or just refocus the tab — it pulls automatically). Not signed in = each device is its own island by design.

Markdown symbols are showing as plain text. You're looking at the Write pane — tap Preview (or widen the window; desktop shows both). The symbols are supposed to stay visible where you type.

Can I turn a note into a goal? A goal into a habit? Yes and yes. Organize into something on a note; Edit on anything else. Nothing about a thing is permanent — kind, tracker, area, parent, horizon all change anytime.

What do the free limits actually stop? Creating a 5th area or a 41st active item. Completed and someday items don't count against you. Everything you already made keeps working.

I deleted something by accident. Settings → Trash → restore, within 7 days (30 on Premium).
