This trains inhibitory control—the ability to make high-speed decisions and "brake" when necessary.
Goal:
Respond to constant stimuli but "freeze" on a specific rare target.
Gameplay:
- Phase 1: Images appear in rapid succession in the center of the screen (e.g., every 500ms).
- Phase 2: You must press the "Space" bar for every image except a specific "No-Go" image (e.g., a red circle).
Response: The game measures how many "No-Go" targets you accidentally hit due to speed.
As the player improves, increase the frequency of images until they are appearing at a near-impossible rate, forcing the brain to rely on implicit, "fast-twitch" processing. Use an adaptive staircase approach to level advancement. If the player gets the right response 3 times in a row they advance. If they get the wrong answer 3 times in a row they are moved back 2 levels.
