Seeking Guidance: Best Path for Building ACTS on Windows + WSL 2?

Hi everyone,
I'm a new user and I'm really excited to start exploring ACTS, especially the GNN features. I'm trying to build the latest version (v44.1.0) on my Windows machine using WSL 2 (Ubuntu 22.04) with GPU support enabled.
I've been following the getting_started.md guide and have tried the two main paths, but I seem to be running into some fundamental environment hurdles.

1. The Docker Path:
   First, I tried the recommended Docker approach with the ubuntu2404 container. The main issue I hit was that CERN ROOT doesn't seem to be available in the container's apt repositories, which is a required dependency for the examples I need to build.
2. The Local Build Path:
   Next, I tried the "not officially supported" local build path. After installing the prerequisites on my WSL system, I ran into persistent cmake errors where the build system fails during the C++20 std::format feature check, even after installing g++-12.
   I feel like I'm very close but missing a key piece of environmental setup. My main question for the community is:
   What is the recommended and most reliable way for a new user to get a working build environment on Windows + WSL 2?
   Is there a different Docker image I should be using, or perhaps a common "gotcha" with the local build that I'm not aware of? I'm currently considering building ROOT from source inside the Docker container, but that feels very complex, and I suspect there might be a simpler way that experienced users know about.
