Ordering the code examples

I'm thinking of forking and submitting a pull request with

1. Makefiles and/or CMake files that build with gfortran and
2. Refactored versions of the code examples for which it might be interesting to study the performance differences.
   Is there a recommended order through which to progress through the examples -- possibly the order in which you presented them? If so, would you be up for prepending a numerical code, e.g., 01- to each folder name to indicate the order?
