Visualize density as heatmap

Visualize vertical integrated density as a heatmap. See #94 for background discussion.

For now, this is considered an experiment that should not necessarily be part of the production visualization. Once we know it is feasible, we'll set more specific requirements (normalizing, colour scale, etc.) based on feedback.
