[BUG - 1.6.7 ] [FIX - choose right mic on FV manually after update ] wrong mic selection - After latest update Fluid cannot listen

Describe the bug

After I updated to the latest Fluid stopped working. The popup comes up, but after talking and stopping it never writes anything. Restarted Fluid several times, reverted, now still an issue.

Reproduction steps

1. Updated Fluid to latest
2. Started and talked, but no words generated during or after stopping it.
3. Reverted and issue persists.

Expected behavior

Normal behavior, press Fn key, talk, press Fn key again, see words. Same issue testing in the app itself. Reverting does not fix it.

Hey @robertlyson @SaadSOA @realgrapedrop, thanks for opening an issue. Sorry you're running into this. Can you share what the selected input microphone is within the FluidVoice app ? Are you using an external mic by chance ?

If you do have some logs, please share. It would be really helpful. Thanks!

Yup. Latest update killed it. I fully uninstalled and reinstalled it, then switched the mic to my external one, and I think it is working. It looks like the update selected my closed MacBook Pro mic, which maybe broke it?

I made changes to help with setting uo default device - I forgot the condition where the built-in is closed 😭

Please change the mic input to your working one in settings and it should start listening!

Hi, I think I am running into a similar issue but what I found is that the app is not respecting the system default for mic. I have it set to my webcam microphone because I work with my laptop lid closed. It seems to always want to use Macbook Pro Microphone and I have to manually change it to my preferred. Which is set as system default too btw. Hope that helps!

Got it. This was a mistake on my part for assuming buit-in is system default!!

Same issue here—a little more info about my setup, in case it's helpful:

• My MacBook lives on my desk, lid closed, most of the time.
• I have an external webcam with a built-in microphone that is my "system default" most of the time.
• I also have a set of AirPods headphones that I sometimes use as both speakers and mic.
• I basically never use the built-in mic as the default because it is inside a closed MacBook and can't hear anything.

Whenever I put my headphones on or plug and unplug my laptop, macOS generally does the right thing:

• When the webcam is connected, but not the headphones, the webcam's mic is default.
• When the webcam AND headphones are connected, the headphones are the default.
• When neither is connected and the lid is open, the built-in mic is the default.

Whenever the microphone that FluidVoice has chosen disappears, FluidVoice seems to revert to the built-in mic (as described by others above). What I actually want is for it to just follow the system default mic, whatever that happens to be, even when it changes because a new microphone is connected.
