PyTorch 2.8 2.9 Support

Pytorch 2.8/2.9 has been officially released by I do not see documentation about ZenTorch and Torch 2.8/2.9 support? Thanks.

I see commits having added Pytorch 2.8/2.9 compat related code but no release was cut for 5.2?

In addition, I cannot install zentorch for Python3.13T. Looks like 3.13T and maybe 3.14 was not part of the CI release for pypi. 3.14 may not have been public in August but 3.13T was.

Update: Confirmed missing Python 3.13 and/or 3.13T wheels. I was able to install after settuping Python 3.12 env.

Pytorch 2.8/2.9:
Yes, we have support for PyTorch 2.8 added in zentorch. The support for PyTorch 2.9 will be made in next couple of weeks. The release cut for 5.2 will be done later as the release is planned for mid of Feb'26.

So for now zentorch has to be built from source for these latest versions of PyTorch. We are working on the plans for weekly releases of binaries as well.

Python version compatibility:
zentorch 5.1 binary releases are made for Python versions 3.9 to 3.13. This is because, zentorch inherits its Python version compatibility from PyTorch. PyTorch 2.7 supports python version >=3.9, <=3.13. Reference: PyTorch Release Compatibility Matrix.

From your screenshot I see your environment is for Python 3.13T which is not supported for zentorch 5.1 release. Environments with Python versions 3.9 to 3.13 should work for zentorch 5.1.

@cramasam Thanks. I did switch to 3.12 to get official wheels working.

I do have a question regarding ZenTorch vs AOCL optimized Pytorch. I am highly confused at the intersection or dfiff of these two products. Is ZenTorch the successor to AOCL Pytorch? Basically I want optimized gemms for Zen CPU. Which path/tool should I use ZenTorch + Pytroch+CPU or AOCL Pytorch.

Also. please check. I cannot get ZenDNN to compile since there is no cpu-avx-v2 branch in Composable kernels. Likely deleted.

Thank for all the help! The ZenTorch vs AOCL Pytorch plus compile errors (from offifical doc) and missing wheels is making everything much more difficult than it should be.

Please get whoever is charge at AMD release to push for much faster cadence for ZenTorch relase. It should minimally release 1 release per official Torch release.

For now, please use the official PyTorch build recommended for zentorch.

Composable kernels are not a dependency of ZenDNN any longer. Hence please ignore the steps to build composable kernel . We will update the ZenDNN ReadMe for this next week.

Moreover, if you are to build zentorch from source then you need not do the ZenDNN build manually. The setup script of zentorch will do it.

Please let me know if you face any problem in building zentorch from source.

Yes, we plan to work on the weekly releases of binaries and a zentorch release per official PyTorch release. We will keep you posted.
