Dependancy pyCrypto no longer installs on modern windows

I am using python3.6 with window 8.1 and have this problem:

The reason i posted this bug here is that pyCrypto seems dead and errors like this will keep happening, there is an active fork pycryptodome that can be used instead as a dependency.

oh, thanks. i guess i should either switch to that or simply kill the package. what are the alternatives to this package these days?

Did you mean alternatives to pyCrypto, or your package? I assume that you meant your but will answer both questions.

I am far from an expert, all my knowledge comes from recent searches in stakoverflow through Google to find a good way to encrypt passwords for a potential password storage project.
For my usages there where only three valid (for me) candidates that i found:

1. Your package
2. cryptography
3. pycryptodome, the active fork of pyCrypto
   I liked yours and cryptography the most, as i am very far from being a cryptography expert, and so will likely make bad choices with pycryptodome. And i would have definatly chose yours, but the speed was a big no no for what i am doing (and i understand and agree that in some use cases this is a big PLUS, just couldn't fit it into my use case..)
   So from my perspective there are two alternatives, but for some use cases your package is a LOT better and i do hope that you will keep it alive.

As for alternatives to pyCrypto, pycryptodome seems to be the only valid one, and its fully backward compatible (i actually tested you package by manually editing the requirements to pycryptodome and it worked like a charm).

hmm. cryptography looks decent until you actually look at their "easy to use" routine and it turns out to be rather complicated.

pynacl is another option. that looks a bit better, but it's still not what i would call idiot proof.

i guess i may keep this going. i'll think a bit more. thanks for the info.
