It seems that OceanOptics provide a parameter to allow multiple spectra to be averaged on the device before the requested spectrum is returned. However, this only seems to be available for the serial interface and I don't see anything comparable for USB. Perhaps this is because data-transfer over USB is so much faster than serial that it is easier to do the averaging on the host? Not really sure. Anyhow, this is functionality that I would quite like to use (and is already provided by SpectraSuite) - can anyone forsee any problems with having an extra property in the spectrometer base class "n_avg" which controls how many spectra get averaged by the intensities() method before it returns? I suppose this would require a separate implementation in the STS class...
