ANTHROPIC_API_KEY Configuration Issue - Solution

I've analyzed your workflow configuration and identified the issue. Your workflows (claude.yml and claude-review.yml) are correctly configured, but the ANTHROPIC_API_KEY secret is not set in your repository.

Both workflows check for the API key at lines 28-34 in claude.yml and lines 15-21 in claude-review.yml:

When the API key is not found, the workflow skips the Claude Code action, which is exactly what's happening in your failed run.

Solution

You need to add the ANTHROPIC_API_KEY as a repository secret:

1. Get your Anthropic API Key:

   • Go to https://console.anthropic.com/settings/keys
   • Create a new API key if you don't have one

2. Add it to your GitHub repository:

   • Go to your repository: https://github.com/ar9708/web-client/settings/secrets/actions
   • Click "New repository secret"
   • Name: ANTHROPIC_API_KEY
   • Value: Paste your Anthropic API key
   • Click "Add secret"

3. Alternative: Use Repository Variables (if you prefer):

   • Go to: https://github.com/ar9708/web-client/settings/variables/actions
   • Add a variable named ANTHROPIC_API_KEY
   • Note: Secrets are more secure for API keys

Important Notes

• Fork Limitations: If this is a fork of OwnTube-tv/web-client, secrets from the upstream repository are not inherited. You must set them in your own fork.
• Security: Always use GitHub Secrets for API keys, not Variables, as secrets are encrypted and not exposed in logs.
• Permissions: Make sure you have admin access to the repository to add secrets.

After Adding the Secret

Once you've added the ANTHROPIC_API_KEY secret, the workflows will automatically use it on the next trigger (new PR, issue comment with @claude, etc.). You can test it by:

• Creating a new comment with @claude on this issue
• Opening a new PR to trigger the PR review workflow
