Trouble Renaming Files in 1.25.9 on Win11

Using ART 1.25.9 in Windows 11 Pro. When I load a file in the ART GUI editor and go to rename a file via the menu that is pulled up via F2, I get a message that says "Failed to rename file". I have noticed that I can right-click and rename a file from the preview bar if I have not yet clicked to load said file into the main editor window.

Similarly, whichever files I have loaded into the editor window while ART has been open I cannot delete in Windows Explorer as it reports them all are open in ART. In previous versions, I could delete any files which were or had been opened in the ART editor. Only closing ART completely releases the files.

can you provide more details, e.g. what kind of files you are trying to rename, and your configuration settings? I tried to reproduce but everything seems to work as usual here...

I am opening Canon R6 CR3 RAW files.

As a sanity check, I re-installed ART version 1.25.8 and none of the behaviors I described above manifested themselves.

Looks good, I can rename and externally delete CR3 files after loading them in the editor.

Interestingly, in v1.25.10, even though I see it has d8d7fcb in it, I am now seeing the same behavior before.

Indeed, I think the "fix" was not really fixing anything. Probably there's some specific behaviour that triggers the issue. I have seen it myself but I haven't figured out yet the cause, sorry. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't, at least here. I'm not using windows regularly though so finding the culprit might take a while I'm afraid...

Thank you for your continued investigation and likewise, I thought 1.25.10 was working like the nightly you had sent, but now I find it not working like the nightly. If you have any suggests or new nightlies to try, I would be happy to try them out.

I was trying to study this more with the latest release 1.26.1, and I think I understand why I "sometimes observed the behavior and sometimes did not". It appears to be related to the filetype. For CR3 files straight out of a Canon camera, if in ART I explicitly click on one to open it in the main editing window, then renaming the file in ART or even moving it outside ART is not possible until I close ART.

Interestingly, for DNG files that I have created with DxO from the original CR3 files, I do not experience this behavior. Regardless of whether I have opened a DNG file in the main editor, I can rename within ART on-demand, and I can move the file.

Based on the dialog box that pops up in ART when I try to rename a CR3 and fails, it is occurring here, where something in the if-condition is failing I guess. I am curious about the doit method, but I was not able to track that down.

In any case, some more information about this strange behavior.

could it be that the file is somehow "locked" by windows? E.g. because maybe it's still in use by the app you use for importing? There's no logic in ART that depends on the file type, I suspect this is something happening elsewhere...

In terms of importing the CR3s onto my machine, I am using the native OS to copy directly from the SD card with no additional software. Likewise, I can still rename CR3s in ART until I happen click to open them.
