Propose pull request to SourceXtractor++ upstream

This is is to track internal discussion of submitting ASDF support to SourceXtractor++

Should discuss how to approach the question, and if we should do some more internal testing / get feedback from the mission office from using my fork first. Or at least go ahead and open an upstream issue to propose the idea and then make a pull request.

We should also maybe clarify with them why this matters, as well as determine what we can say about long-term support for the functionality. I think the code I wrote is fairly solid, but I suspect more ASDF-specific features will be needed once we get more feedback on the usability. The libasdf ABI is not completely stable yet either, so there will probably be some updates needed as libasdf settles.

The Advanced Scientific Data Format (ASDF) is being developed at the Space Telescope Science Institute. It is used in the JWST calibration pipeline and is the native format for the upcoming Roman Space Telescope mission.

We are working to provide support for commonly used data analysis software and SExtractor++ is one of them.

We hope this contribution will allow ASDF to be supported in SExtractor++. Our aim is to provide continued support for ASDF as a format natively supported in SExtractor++.
