[BUG] Mega Connection with Native API does not work

I just tried connecting my Mega Account with the Native API option selected. After adding the account, when I click connect, I see these 2 errors in the logs section:

[08:54:50] INFO - Connection failed: Connection failed: Connection failed: MEGAcmd is not installed. Install it from https://mega.nz/cmd

• OS: Windows 10
• AeroFTP Version: 3.4.6

Hi @towfiqi, thank you so much for reporting this and for sharing the log output that really helped.

I’ve investigated it and this does look like a bug on our side, not a mistake in your credentials.

What’s happening is a bit subtle: in some MEGA connection flows, AeroFTP shows Native API in the UI when the mega_mode value is missing, but the backend was still falling back to MEGAcmd in that same case. So even though the app appears to be using the Native API, the actual connection attempt can end up going through MEGAcmd instead, which is why you saw the MEGAcmd is not installed message.

That also explains why I wasn’t able to reproduce it immediately with my existing saved profiles, those already had an explicit mode stored.

I’ve already prepared a fix so the MEGA connection mode is handled consistently and explicitly, and I’m planning to include it in the next patch release.

Downloaded the latest release, removed the old connection, added the Mega account again, and tried connecting, and the same error appears in the logs section.

Hi @towfiqi, I've done several tests and improved the authentication flow by strengthening some potentially critical points. I just updated to v3.4.8. I don't have MEGA cmd installed on Windows 10. I delete the saved profile (which already connects normally) and save a new profile. Everything works perfectly here!

If it still doesn't work, we need to investigate further. Did you reinstall it on a PC where it wasn't previously installed, or did you update an existing version? Were you able to connect before, and then you got the error?

I uninstalled AeroFTP and manually deleted the folder C:\Users\axpne\AppData\Roaming\aeroftp\ (with the next release, when uninstalling you'll be able to choose to delete all data without leaving any app files). I installed the latest version, which opened without any saved profiles, from scratch, and as you can see, everything works fine. It should work for you too. If necessary, try deleting everything and reinstalling a new release without saved servers.
